HCC LIONS LIFT NYTBCL 2022 T10 PREMIER DIVISION TROPHY

NEW YORK: Hicksville Cricket Club Lions (HCC Lions) team beat Long Island Desi Boyz (LIDB) in finals of New York Tennis Ball Cricket League (NYTBCL) Fall T10 tournament held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY on Sunday, October 29th, 2022.
LIDB captain Anant Gupta won the toss and decided to bat first. Anant Gupta and Ashu Kohli opened the innings. Ajith Ganesh bowled tight first over giving away just 5 runs. Sridhar Singamshetty, with his newly discovered bowling superpower, bowled from the other end and immediately got Ashu Kohli snicking to Gaurav Chaudhary behind the wicket, who moved like a butterfly, and completed an amazing catch! Then came the man in form Siddharth Khemani. He has been in destructive form this season and rightly ended up the top run scorer. Siddharth furnished an attacking brand of cricket with 2 fours and 2 sixes. One of the sixes was straight hit to long off and highlight of his innings.
A loss in concentration cost Sid his wicket. He was cleverly run out by Ajith Ganesh (who was at the bowler end) while walking back to his crease finishing the second run. To many, this was the turning point. Even though Anant was rotating the strike and scoring ball to ball, with the wicket of Sid, the aggression on top fizzed out. LIDB could not get the much-required push in the death overs and ended with 79/2 in their allotted 10 overs. Vamshi Lavang was the most economical bowler ending with figures of 2 overs, 7 runs. HCC Lions kept the extras low to just 5 wides, 3 of them bowled by Sridhar Singamshetty while trying to bowl doosra.
HCC Lions, needing almost 8 runs per over to win, opened the innings with Prashant Harshal and Rohan Tendulkar. LIDB needed some tight overs in the top to put HCC Lions under pressure. Rohan made his intensions clear when he hit a backfoot pull towards square leg for four on the very first ball he faced. One the other end, Prashant Harshal was collecting quick singles and doubles hitting in the gap. Prashant hit 3 crisp fours in his innings of 31(19). Rohan was caught out while trying to push the scoring. He scored 17 (13) with 2 fours. None the less, the job was performed as the score was 40/1 in 4 overs when the first wicket fell.
Shridhar Singhamshetty arrived and looked like he was in a hurry to finish the match. He hit 1 four and 2 sixes in a short stay of 8 balls scoring 17 runs. There were attempts of reverse shots too which delighted the spectators. He was eventually out caught to Rohit Bhatia. Yash Panchal wanted to bat and was seen warming up but was denied the opportunity as Prashant and Gaurav chased the target in 7.2 overs without losing any further wicket. HCC Lions won by 8 wickets and lifted the trophy!
